GARDEN FOR THE EVERLIVING

What is the measure of pain? How to fill in the empty spaces left by a life unjustly taken? Jardín para la Siempreviva is a poetic and visual journey through the rubble left by institutionality. It is channeled by the poem of the same title by the Antioquian writer Juan Manuel Roca. The images that emerge from here, evoked as a whisper, enhance the allegory of the point of view and manage to generate a climate of intimacy and empathy with a family tragedy full of complications, but that ends with an opening to life and to reflect on justice and the meaning of the institutions in our country. This project was carried out with the support of the Department of Art and the Campus Management of the Universidad de los Andes.

This video was invited to be part of the “Video Words” curatorial project of the Magmart International Video Art Festival, Naples, Italy, and its premiere was at the hARTeslen Gallery, London, UK, 2021. Within this curatorship it has also been presented at the Institut für Alles Mögliche, Berlin, and at the Torrance Art Museum, Torrance, California, USA, 2021.
